Industry Groups

New Industry Group
TIF has established a new industry group named the " TIF Green Technology Industry Group". The group's mission is to identify and promote ways in which the electronic communications industry can help support a green economy and accelerate the development and spread of sustainability practices. The officers of the group are Tom Bambury, General Manager, ESB Telecoms (Chair) and Kevin O'Callaghan, Managing Director, Alcatel Lucent (Vice Chair). The inaugural meeting of the group was held on Tuesday, 19th January 2010. Key objectives of the group include creating greater awareness of how the industry can act as a key enabler of the smarter, greener and more sustainable economy as well as sharing information and knowledge amongst the industry regarding green initiatives.

TIF has identified six other key segments of the telecommunications industry. Each of these segments has a dedicated industry group made up of specialists from member companies and reporting to the TIF Council.

TIF has the following industry groups:

Broadband and Next Generation Networks Industry Group
This group deals with issues related to the rollout of broadband, Next Generation Networks and informs Government and related bodies of the industry's views
Cable and Broadcasting Industry Group
This group deals with issues related to the rollout of Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), Broadcasting Bill 2008 and informs the Government and related bodies of the industry's views

Mobile Industry Group
This group deals with issues related to spectrum allocation, mobile issues such as mobile bullying and informs the Government and related bodies of the industry's views
Regulatory Affairs Industry Group
This group deals with issues related to the latest EU directives, the advertising of broadband speeds and informs the Government and related bodies of the industry's views

Outsourcing Services Industry Group
This group deals with issues related to outsourcing services providers such as energy costs and promotes the cost effectiveness of outsourcing services
Telecoms Technology Industry Group
This group researchs latest technology in telecoms and organises information seminars on these new technologies
